PRACTICE · 4 MIN READ

On returning to your body.

After birth, movement returns differently. Not as punishment — as reunion.

After birth, the mirror shows someone familiar and strange at once. Movement returns not as punishment, but as reunion — if we let it.

I remember the first time I unfolded the board in our bedroom. My daughter was napping. I had eighteen minutes. That was enough.

Postpartum bodies are not broken bodies waiting to be fixed. They are bodies that have done extraordinary work and deserve tools that meet them where they are.

Pilates taught me to listen before I pushed. To breathe before I counted reps. To honour the soft places as much as the strong ones.

If you are returning — whether from birth, injury, or simply years away from movement — begin with fifteen quiet minutes. The board folds away. The practice stays.
